Typed letter from Vonnegut to a local Ithaca physician in response to a newspaper article and letter to the editor about book censorship in school libraries. In this letter to Dr. C. Judson Kilgore, Kurt Vonnegut (Class of 1944) thanks the physician for defending his book, Breakfast of Champions, and First Amendment rights. Vonnegut also discusses the sometimes troubling intersection of the First Amendment rights to the practice of religion and of free speech. Includes copies of the original article in the Ithaca Journal, Kilgore's letter to the editor, and a 1993 clipping about a talk given by Vonnegut at Cornell.
